Founded by Professor Shan L Pan in 2015, DEP is a crowdsourcing project aimed at sharing relevant and interesting digital enablement phenomena, especially those that are often overlooked and under researched. In an effort to create awareness in-and-around digitally enabled business and social innovation, DEP provides an open platform to connect ideas, resources and people around the world. DEP is working towards developing an ecosystem that facilitates and sustains conversations, engagement and collaboration around digital enablement issues.
THE FOUNDER: SHAN L PAN
Professor Shan L Pan is the founder of the Digital Enablement Project. He is also a professor of Information Systems, Technology and Management at the UNSW Business School, The University of New South Wales. He was formerly a tenured professor at the National University of Singapore. He is currently a research affiliate with the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society, Germany. His research interest is digital enablement within the contexts of business and social innovation. He has conducted in-depth studies on state-owned enterprises, commercial organizations, rural villages, and nonprofit organizations in China, Germany, India, Singapore and parts of Southeast Asia. DEP seeks to create impact on the practice of overcoming digitally enabled business and societal challenges, and the dissemination of relevant insights to students, managers, and policymakers.
EDITORIAL COORDINATOR: YENNI TIM
Yenni Tim is the Editorial Coordinator of the Digital Enablement Project. She is also a PhD candidate in the School of Information Systems, Technology and Management (SISTM), at the UNSW Business School, The University of New South Wales. Yenni’s research focuses on the digitally enabled power shifts taking place in businesses and societies. Using in-depth qualitative case studies, Yenni’s research seeks to illuminate understanding on how emerging technologies are shifting the power, reshaping traditional industries and creating unprecedented change. Yenni has conducted case studies in China, Germany, Malaysia and Thailand.
SPECIAL PROGRAM COORDINATOR : CARMEN LEONG
Dr Carmen Leong is the Special Program Coordinator of the Digital Enablement Project. She is also a lecturer of Information Systems, Technology and Management at the UNSW Business School, The University of New South Wales. Her research interests include digital empowerment in social studies and digitally enabled strategic transformation in organizations, and she has conducted case study research in China, Malaysia, Thailand and Germany.
COMICS CASE COORDINATOR : TINGTING HUANG
Tingting Huang is the Comics Case Coordinator of the Digital Enablement Project. She is also a Ph.D. candidate at the Graduate School of Economics and Management of Tohoku University. She joined the DEP program in the early 2016 and has conducted many DEP case studies. She also has years of empirical experience on e-business, media, distribution, marketing, project management and other business practices. Her current research interests include the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in the organizational context, IT-business alignment assessment, decision-making on ERP switching, new generation of information systems, and digital enabled innovations.
MANAGING EDITOR OF DEP E-BOOK SERIES : SANDEEP MYSORE SESHADRINATH
Dr Sandeep Mysore Seshadrinath is the Managing Editor of DEP E-Book Series for the Digital Enablement Project. He is also a Lecturer in Information Systems, Technology and Management at UNSW Business School. He holds a PhD in Business & Management from Loughborough University, UK. His research interests lie in the social study of information systems, with a special focus on digitally-enabled social transformations.
AMBASSADORS PROGRAM COORDINATOR : M.N. RAVISHANKAR
Professor M.N. Ravishankar is Coordinator of DEP Ambassadors Program. He is also Professor of Globalization and Emerging Markets and Head of the International Business, Strategy, and Innovation (IBSI) Discipline Group in the School of Business and Economics, Loughborough University, UK. He conducts interdisciplinary research on the digital economy of emerging markets, and their social and economic impacts. He has studied and worked with start-ups, multinational companies and public sector organisations globally. He teaches courses on the strategic management of multinational enterprises and entrepreneurship in emerging markets.
AMBASSADORS : PETRI HALLIKAINEN
Dr Petri Hallikainen is a DEP Ambassador. He is also a senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney Business School, discipline of Business Information Systems. Formerly he worked as Assistant Professor at the Aalto University Business School, Helsinki, Finland. He has conducted in-depth case studies on the social aspects of enterprise systems projects, both in public and private organizations. His current research interests focus on the digitalization of the financial industry, including topics such as the digitalization of services and the Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
